Title: Travel and Transport building at the Century of Progress World's Fair, 1933-1934, light exposure Description: Light exposure exterior view of the Travel and Transport building still under construction before the opening of Chicago's Century of Progress International Exposition of 1933-1934. The building was located just south of 31st Street and housed exhibits displaying the history of transportation in the world's largest unobstructed room. Designed by John A. Holabird, Edward H. Bennett and Hubert Burnham, the most distinguishing feature of the building was its "Breathing Dome" that expanded and contracted as the temperature varied and was suspended by cables attached to 12 steel towers.
