Title: Dress Description: Dress of orange-red printed silk crepe with pattern of green leaves edged in gold-colored embroidery. Wide, scooped neck. Blousing effect at dropped waist. Long, narrow sleeves with snaps at cuffs. Hem is higher in front than on sides.; Worn by Mrs. Foster Adams, née Courtney Letts and then Mrs. John Borden, while she sat for her portrait which hung in the Borden's drawing room. Donor's note: Made by Chanel, Paris, 1925, for portrait to be painted in London, by Hilary Strain, who was showing her latest work in the British Museum. Note attached: June - Paris/Chanel - 1925.
