Insull was President of Commonwealth Edison and Chairman of the Illinois State Council of Defense during World War I. An unidentified man is standing on the edge of the fountain on the right of the image. The mansion was built in 1914 for Insull; purchased in 1937 by the John Cuneo, Sr., family; and later became the Cuneo Museum at 1350 North Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills, Ill.
