Image of the pedestrian bridge over the tracks at the elevated railroad station at South State and Van Buren Streets, viewed at an angle slightly above the tracks and including nearby buildings, a train in the station, and pedestrians on the sidewalk below. The image was taken previous to the consolidation of the Northwestern Elevated lines with the South Side Elevated lines which occurred on November 3, 1913. The pedestrian bridge facilitated the free transfer of passengers between lines at the same stop which had been previously unavailable.
