Earl Weiss and Patrick Murray, both bootleggers, were killed while walking with attorney W. W. O'Brien, who was wounded. Jacobs, Weiss' bodyguard, and Samuel Peller were wounded as well. Jacobs and Peller were brought in because they were present at the shooting.
