Progress photographs documenting the construction of the Chicago Drainage Canal, which spanned approximately five miles from Damen Avenue in Chicago to Lockport (Ill.). Includes scenes from groundbreaking to dedication showing blasting the terrain with dynamite, equipment and vehicles, finding fossil remains, laborers and African American laborers shooting craps, labor housing, office interiors, the Sante Fe Railway bridge (Lemont, Ill.), the Lockport Road bridge, the monument to Marquette (Summit, Ill.), railroads, and group portraits of administrators.
