Informal portrait of Charles Chaplin standing next to a man operating a machine in the pressroom of the Chicago Daily News in Chicago, Illinois. Chaplin is in Chicago as a judge for a Chicago Daily News film scenario writing competition. Some of the enteries were printed in the newspaper. Charles Chaplin was a star of the silent movie screen. He helped to found United Artists slong with Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford. He was the first actor to appear on the cover of Time magazine (in 1925) and he recieved honorary Oscars in 1929 (the first Academy Awawrds) and 1972.
